Former CEO and North West Chief Nurse receives MBE after 37 years service to NHS
A senior nurse from the North West, Hayley Citrine, has been awarded the honour of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to nursing in the King Charles’ Birthday Honours List, after 37 years in the NHS.
Hayley Citrine, who sits on the Board of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) as a Non-Executive Director, has worked in the health service since 1985, predominantly in Merseyside, Cheshire and the North West.
Prior to joining LUHFT in January this year, Hayley was NHS England’s Regional Chief Nurse for the North West, focusing on areas such as patient safety, improving quality and leading on national and regional programmes. She also has 10 years’ experience at Board level, including three years as the Chief Executive of The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist neuroscience trust in Liverpool.
Speaking about receiving the honour, Hayley said:
“It has been a privilege to work in the NHS for nearly four decades and to be recognised with this MBE is an incredible personal honour, but one earned with the support of my family and colleagues. Nursing and the National Health Service has given me such a fulfilling and enjoyable career and I am pleased to represent our profession in this years’ honours.”
David Flory, Chair of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “On behalf of everyone at the Trust, I would like to congratulate Hayley on this well-deserved honour, which recognises the significant impact she has had on nursing but also the wider NHS during her career. That breadth of knowledge and experience is invaluable in Hayley’s role at LUHFT.”
