New documentary series gives unique look into two Liverpool murders
Investigations into the shocking murders of Olivia Pratt-Korbel and Ashley Dale are at the centre of a compelling new documentary series set to launch.
Created by Liverpool-based LA Productions, the four-part series, Merseyside Detectives: The Murders of Ashley and Olivia, will air on Monday 19 August and subsequently Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week following the two high-profile investigations as detectives work to find those responsible.
The documentary, which was filmed over the course of two years, gives viewers a unique insight into the two murders which happened within just 48 hours of each other.
28-year-old Ashley Dale was fatally gunned down in her home on 21 August 2022 and, less than two days later and just two miles away, nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot dead at home.
In the weeks and months that followed, communities came together in grief as it became clear that both Ashley and Olivia were innocent victims caught in a web of feuding organised crime groups.
And, for the first time in almost 25 years, Merseyside Police gave exclusive access to LA Productions to follow their work and highlight how justice was achieved for the victims’ families.
As part of the series, which was commissioned by Channel 4, the heartbroken mothers of both Olivia and Ashley speak out about the loss of their beloved daughters, detailing how their lives have been shaken since the tragic incidents.

“Having built strong connections with Merseyside Police, we worked closely with the force to ensure that we handled the project in the most sensitive way possible as these stories unfolded and the city’s communities came together.
“As we approach the second anniversary of both of these tragic incidents, we continue to have Olivia and Ashley’s families in our thoughts.”
Merseyside Detectives: The Murders of Ashley and Olivia airs at 9pm on Channel 4 on Monday 19 August and subsequently Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday of that week.
