Free Expert Advice for Liverpool Residents Considering the Switch to Electric Vehicles

People thinking about making the switch from petrol or diesel vehicles can get free expert advice at a showcase taking place next month.

Liverpool City Council has partnered with Let’s Experience Electric to run a free event showcasing over 20 electric vehicles (EVs) on Church Street and Lord Street.

Taking place on Friday 8 May between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm, the public will be able to get up close with some of the latest EVs on the market.

All vehicles on display will be open to the public, giving people the chance to sit inside and get a closer look at the cars’ interiors.

Experts from a range of manufacturers and dealers, including brands such as Chery, Ford, BYD and Kia, will also be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions about the switch to EVs.

Accessible Charging Solutions in Liverpool

The Council has recently taken steps to make it even easier to switch to more sustainable transport by installing 300 on-street charging stations in residential areas.

Chargers have been installed in existing lampposts across the city, giving people who don’t have access to a private driveway or garage the ability to charge their EVs close to home.

The locations of the charging points were determined from resident requests and then utilised existing suitable columns.

By placing these facilities in residential streets, the initiative directly addresses one of the primary concerns for city dwellers looking to move away from traditional combustion engines.

This infrastructure development ensures that the practicalities of owning an electric vehicle are met for those living in varied housing types across the region.

Expert Support for the Transition

Councillor Dan Barrington, Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity, said:

“Making the switch to an electric vehicle is a big decision, and we want residents to feel confident, informed and supported.

“This showcase is a great opportunity for people to explore the latest EVs, speak directly with experts and get honest, practical advice.

“It’s just one of the ways we’re helping Liverpool move towards cleaner, greener transport.”

The presence of multiple manufacturers at the Church Street and Lord Street event allows visitors to compare different models and technologies in one central location.

Whether residents are curious about battery range, charging times, or the driving experience, the specialists on hand are there to provide clarity.

By offering this free, open-access event, Liverpool City Council and Let’s Experience Electric are providing the community with the tools needed to explore a more sustainable future.

The showcase serves as a comprehensive resource for anyone at the start of their journey towards cleaner transport, ensuring that the move to electric is as straightforward as possible for every resident.
